Dancing Dogs on Ice

It has been a cold December and quite icy on my walks around Moulden Hill lake but then I read a daft Labrador (or is daft daft Labrador owners) allowed the silly bitch to skate on thin ice.

Which then caused a costly rescue for which they should be billed.

I went ice skating fairly safely on the lake and other iced up areas.

So I couldn't believe it when I read the this just a few days later from one of my cousins owners allowing a Lakeland off a lead!!

Today out on the walk I came across two new things.

Someone is trying to move the lake across the footpaths.

Then as you can see I was listening out for something coming around the corner. I thought it was a squirrel or a large bird but to m

y mega surprise it was something much bigger.

I tried warning this beast off but it just kept on coming I just had to give way in the end.

I have warmed up my catching skills over the last few weeks by a bit of spider & moth catching, but last night a mouse dared to enter my bedroom (i.e. the kitchen) well he didn't last long. How proud of this catch was I, leaving it in the middle of the floor for master to clear up! I can't seem to catch the cats or squirrels as they cheat using their climbing skills.

Watch out birds, ducks or foxes I am out for a big kill.

My daft old master was in a rush to go out and watch Jordan play for Liden U10's who had an early morning kick off, so we went just to the local newspaper shop. When we reached the footpath to Woodhall I was suddenly free and just ran and ran till I reached the field near the brook. In his haste the master had clipped the lead onto the lightweight loop, not the solid loop on my collar but my name tag which stretched and broke. So there I was having a great time running free round and round the bushes etc. Before going out normally there is big routine poop bags, keys ipod phone sometimes the camera, but today he was stranded in a panic, no mobile, no one around and me just running free.

I enjoyed the game I was having running up close, but not close enough to be caught, then round and round at pace hiding behind the bushes/trees. I then became a bit tired and made for a garden, a bit lucky for the old man, as this was one of very few gardens around there with a fence and open gate, I had trapped myself, GAME OVER.

Autumn Update

Most amazing walk to date

After a short car drive to a spot near Kemble in Gloucestershire, we (Jon, Jordan & Master) then checked the GPS to set our destination. This was about a mile away and little did I realise it meant a muddy walk, across the main railway line to London. Then a close encounter with some massive grass eating monsters, but I was up for the challenge as you can see.

Then across a very wet field to a stone! Little did I know the water I really enjoyed playing in was in fact the original source of the Thames, seeping up from deep underground. I knew it had rained a lot recently but no way would it have created this field of mini ponds.

As you can see the stone marking the spot was a little way beyond but I was actually in the river although it looks like a pond. There were loads of these ponds all draining off into a stream.

You can see the stream formed to the left and we followed its course to the corner of the field to the trees where there was the amazing find.

To reach this point I had to see off a few more cows, then I received the salute of my achievement from a host of herons (is that right for loads of them?). They were out to herald our arrival with the occasional fly past with their huge wings taking them airborne with speed.

We made our way to the hidden spot in a copse and there it was a beautiful crystal clear cold water spring, with water bubbling up from deep underground in a huge continuous flow.

This was it the start, the source of England's great river the Thames or is it? Join the debate and have your say.

Maybe one day soon I'll check out the other options of my visit to the area 1 mile north of Kemble. At this stage I am in no doubt. Mind you maybe its the River Ray or the Seven Springs/ River Churn.

In the bottom left hand corner you can see the ripples from the water bubbling up, and in the at the edge of the copse you can just make out a wall (rubbish bit of camera work but I have some videos I will try and put up soon). This wall, which you can see below from the other side, is a curtain to allow the Thames to flow into the countryside. You can see me having just had a closer look.

Then better than any trick a magician can conjure the Thames emerges from the copse as a young grand river 215 miles through England. With Jordan proving he is master (father) of the Thames standing on its first bridge.

While I was filming a blue flash passed overhead, yes a kingfisher flew very quickly under the bridge and downstream

I went out for a really long walk today I found a new stretch of the river Ray great for paddle and chasing ducks keep that quite as not allowed to do that). They were pretty cute see my photo.

Over the weekend Ruby, Jordan & Megan's Staffie came over and she tried to break into the guinea pig run. Today the guinea pig escaped through the weakened cage, I spotted this attempt and alerted (barked) Linda & Derek who were watching Andy Murray winning his first round match.

The recaptured him and made a quick repair, which did not work as an hour later he escaped again! this time legged it to the bushes but I was alert and rounded him out so Derek could catch him and put him back in the hutch.

Must try my skills with sheep sometime!!

Out on my walk over Moredon fields Swindon I came across this sofa not dumped but somehow moved at long way from any roads, strategically placed (like Stonehenge was ) this is to take in the views shown below.

Then I walked a little further and found this unfinished artwork as there is plenty of exposed brickwork on the bridge. This really isn't as good as Banksy

I can't believe it have failed to blog all year, Well I now enjoy walks not safe to be let off the lead but today me and the master went to Purton just past the Moulden Hill lake and found Purton Forest project and the boundary stone. I think he was lost trying to find the Canal we walked along last week.. At least no swans to hiss at me on this cold frosty morning.

Sorry I haven't posted on here lately I was rather embaressed follwing my minor operation to stop me fathering puppies, also I now have a chip so all I have learn is my pin and I vcan go shopping.

We go aout walking quite often now finding new places to explore.

I continue to learn new tricks and commands but really like winding everyone with barking and rushing around at 100mph, they don't seem to appreciate the fun in this.

I am quite grown up now having got my adult teeth, being trusted to not run upstairs even if the doors are open. I still tug at the lead and look like a rabbit trying to get to the field quickly for a romp around. I am a savenger like any other dog but they are not giving in and giving me stuff from the plate.

Last weekend I weent for a long drive and we ended up at a new house although they are all pretty much the same I always like to challenge the masters but secretly nipping upstairs.

I would have really loved going out in the garden at Richards senior's house, but it was out of bounds for several reasons the have a family of badgers at the foot of the garden, although the large nocternal mammels have lovely black & white coats immatating panda's they are not to clean and carry fleas around. I also think they thought I might create mayhem in the large holes the entrances to their sett, they maybe right I'm only small and these creatures sound quite a wild bunch chucking earth and boulders about when building their house.

This doesn't sound like the seaside I was told about so after tea we went down to the beach I was okay till we got near to the moving stuff and the loud noise it made as the waves (all 6 inches high Derek) crashed into the stones. I eventually became less scared but really didn't fancy a swim.

Yes summer is here at last but wow is it hot, i really only feel like lazying around sleeping. Jon tried to see if I would like a swim for some strange reason you can use a hosepipe to fill the padling pool but not water the flowers and vegetables! I water the strawberries!! :-)
I don't about this cold water thing I was not that impressed and to frightened to move so stood there on 3 legs for many minutes. The Guinea pigs swin area but that's not really my style.

Indoors they got in the party mood having found some balloons on a clear out I am a very good magician I can make them disappear with a loud bang.

Great I didn't have to stay at home and watch the footy, or be scared by the terrific thunderstorm which has been overhead for over an hour.
I was delighted to receive the invite from Thameswood Small Animal Hospital to their Puppy Party Wed 10th May at 7.30. Linda and Zoe were allowed to come and kindly took me as I wasn't sure of my way there.

There were a few of us there including a Jack Russell, German Shepherd, some were so badly behaved they wre removed from room although I made a bit noise I escaped that fait. We were allowed to run around and play with our new friends, ten we were shown around the vets seems a nice place if ever I am not too well.

As a going home gift we had a goody bag with a bone, a pigs ear which is really great.

This pastime is great fun. searching for treasure perhaps I can be trained to sniff out the treasure boxes geocaching is a fast growing pastime taking you places not normally found. The cows seemed scared of me perhaps it was because Jon held me up to have look over the hedge at the heard and they backed off quickly Thinking I was a small dog with 6 foot long legs

Spring is here

One of the better days this year, and we went on a family (Linda, Derek Jon & Zoe and Jasper my white poodle mate) trip to Lechlade. First a walk through some nice long grass alongside the river Thames, then over the first road bridge on this 211 mile river. We then went in a motor boat it was great all the wildlife I could have played with, but they would not let me in swimming, don't know why there were fully clothed youths jumping in from the bridge.

Then it was back to the park with our sausage & chips. I had to watch out as Derek was at bit annoyed at the footy results, Pompey managed to stay up and Swindon were relegated to league 2.

It was a nice sunny evening Jon & Zoe put a lead on me and took me for a walk, it went quite well I didn't really chew the lead like had done in the garden. The cars were a bit fast and close I didn't really like them. It's a bit tiring this walking business I've just written this and flopped out.

During the last week I have had my final jabs at the vets but still not allowed out in public until the end of April.
I am growing fast and certainly getting a bit wise about everything, if that front door is ajar I try and make a break for it. I just hide under the cars you should see the panic trying to catch me.

The mini people are around today so great fun running around the garden.

am not a guineapig & have got fed up being put in a rather large run to do my business, I clambered out and ran to the back door to surprise my masters. I think they thought it was a one off but I was able to keep repeating this so now they have to stay out in the cold & wet to ensure I don't run away. So they have given in I am now allowed to run around the garden I bet I can find a way out of this large space!I am happy to perform various instructions for the reward of a click and treat. I do sit, down & starting to do stay. I don't quite understand roll.I continue to love chewing up anything paper & wires are favourites follwed by biting any flesh or trousers great fun they haven't got clue how to stop me.

Yes it's been fun I managed to annoy them a little by trying to bite chunks out of their flesh, I think they are planning some counter attack I saw my mum (well the human one) on the internetI did remind Jon how quick I can be by a snappy but effective love bite!I must say however Jon has been great he has an endless supply of bits of chocolate or small treats. If I do some very simple moves I hear a click plus a treat to eat. I can sit and give a high five in thanks, if he puts his hand down on the floor if I lie correctly I am well rewarded.Mum & dad take me out for rides in the car, I am quite well behaved and love the attention I receive from a wide range of friends and strangers.I was not impressed with the cold wet rain today

Hi all, I'm settling down okay even using the facilities proved occasionally, my den is great for a quiet lie down and the area outside is being used for the loo okay.Some little people popped round yesterday, one of whom had some natty shorts that were ripe for attack.He was dancing around gleefully as he had scored the opening goal in his teams 5-0 win. Jordan had impressed at training ground so the manager put him up front.I have tracked down a ball they tried to hide, I also have a rope toy which is good fun, but much more fun is chasing Jon round the house & trying to chew anything I can get hold of.I slept better last night with radio 2 much better than the Classical music.Yesterday it seems my medical welfare was being organised with Thameswood (no website perhaps my playmate Jon could get some business), I am really looking forward to the jabs, ID chipping etc and perhaps a much worse fate if I don't behave myself!I went to bed early last night once I'd worked out which way up I should be, as I feared the master of the house may not be too happy after Saints 1-3 drubbing by Watford at St Mary's and I wasn't going to be at the foot of his anger If he does have a go I'll just chew his Homer slippers Doh!

had Classic radio on overnight, Derek had got up early to watch the cricket, and I saw to my job to ensure he missed the first session. The soothing music I been left with, at 5 am turned into a noisy bit of chat at this time waking me up. As I sensed Derek next door I thought it must be time to get up, dawn is breaking. I went straight outside for a quick piddle he thought naively I was understanding this process. I was rewarded with some breakie a Weetabix, I took some on board, then ran around trying to avoid being caught doing the business. After many trips outside where it was still a bit nippy I thought I'd finish off inside when he is not looking. Brill after several false alarms finally caught him out with a number 2 on the kitchen mat!!He was none too pleased so outside we went thought if I made a bit of a noise it would wake the neighbours and we would be back indoors, it worked.Now for a bit fun I do love this electronic age the cables are excellent to chew but that delight is being denied I can't understand why.

My name is Lennon, a name in keeping with my other four legged friends in my new home. Joining Ringo the Rabbit who lives down the road with Zoe, Jons girlfriend, George the guinea pig, I am dreading them acquiring a pet called Paul I can't imagine what that new playfriend may be, a pig, a porcupine, a pony or even a pygmy hippopotamus! I first met my new human guardians Linda, Derek, Jon & Paul on Saturday 18th March 2006 just a few weeks since I came into this world on 3 Feb 2006, I am a Lakeland Terrier puppy who was still with mum having seen my 5 brothers and sisters leave for new homes the previous weekend.I was growing up and ready to face the world on my own with some loving new humans to be there for me, so a quick tearful goodbye to mum and off in a car!A bit flipping freezing out there mid March "I can't believe it" anyway I was given plenty of affection during the two hour journey where I think I impressed them with my behaviour, I even pretended I was asleep for part of the trip. We even had two comfort breaks with a drink of water. In my new home at last I was keen to explore and one or two new treats were provided but I was much more interested in making my mark about the place. This was great fun as I was picked up every time, then rather rudely rushed to the back garden still very cold dark and windy out there. I thought I'd then impress having got them trained to clear up a little liquid I'd get my own back for putting me outside with a dollop of the solid stuff, a bit sterner reaction so I though I'd better oblige by completing the business outside. Well rewarded I might try that again. Time for bed a bit of light music in background, a new den with bed and blanket with mum's scent so I would be too homesick. I thought I 'd let them know I wasn't entirely happy by whimpering for a short while then after a very exhausting day I fell asleep. "This seems a good home to have a fun life in."
